Our Mission
At Retzlaff Angus, we feel the only way to predict an animal’s performance is to put it to the test. We strive to produce seed stock that excel in real world conditions and management styles. We started out as a commercial cow/calf operation, so we know what’s expected of our seedstock once it reaches your place. If you put pressure on a certain set of cows at certain times of the year, they will separate themselves. Cows that can get the job done on minimal management and those that can’t. Our willingness to put pressure on our genetics is one way we try to set ourselves apart from other purebred breeders. We put emphasis on traits that truly affect the bottom line and not on just numbers. Not all these traits can be expressed in an EPD profile. However, we make mating decisions to improve performance, efficiency and maternal quality while still focusing on fertility, longevity and soundness. Simply put, we don’t chase numbers on a sheet of paper, but rather on quality honest cattle. We focus on a calf’s true performance and potential from proven genetics. We strive to run our cow herd as you would run yours. This gives us the ability to offer our genetics with confidence in optimal herd performance.
